The Artists

Agnieszka Gradzik was born November 2, 1979 in Bialogard Poland and has lived in St. Louis, Missouri since 1999.  Her work has been commissioned both publicly and privately throughout the St. Louis area. She currently works as a resident sculptor at Black and White International while pursuing her BFA.

Wiktor Szostalo was born in Lithuania in 1952 and grew up in communist Poland. He graduated with an MFA from the Academy of fine Art in Cracow. In 1976, while still in art school in Cracow, Wiktor became involved in the pro-democracy student underground movement, which led directly to active participation in the 1980 labor strikes and the Solidarity movement. After the communist crack down in December of 1981,  he spent 5 months in jail and was “encouraged” to leave the country. He now lives and works in Saint Louis, Missouri.
